Kunyari serious post hehe. This is actually one of the articles I'll be submitting for our school paper..an editorial on Cha-Cha..

***************************
We are never satisfied.

The Filipino nation was given the blessing of power to choose its leaders yet somehow, these same people who elect the politicians we have now are the ones bashing the gates of the Senate, wanting their voices to be heard; voices of which tell only two things: either they yell for change through reformation of the Constitution or the abolition of the current administration.

To pursue with Cha-Cha means not just mere replacement of the present officials, but the "renovation" of the system, particularly the electoral system itself. Others who disagree with the cha-cha debate that the amendments will only change the words of the law but not the people. On the other hand, those who are in favor presented possible provisions that will positively affect the different socio-economic aspects that need great attention. The question is, whatever the changes the cha-cha might provide, does everyone really understand where this is going? They could say they are in favor, or they’re not, but is it truly the words of the heart or simply going with the flow?

We could honestly say that the ills of our society have become part of our veins and the problems we have are too hard to prioritize; that the essence of being a Filipino is no longer relevant. The main idea of the charter change could instill progress for the nation and there's no problem with giving it a chance, but what's more important is that the challenges we're all facing now are to be opened up to every single Filipino. To try a solution to the many problems we have is not enough if the common people aren't equipped enough for such changes.

The cha-cha could promise improvements for the country, but the impact it will place on the people matters more. Nobody else will be out there to rescue the Philippines for some problems we ourselves created. It all comes down to being one as a nation, and starting the change from within. At times (because this issue is too hot), you might reminisce upon the Marcos regime, but whatever form of government we wish to adapt, we must not be apathetic regarding everything that’s going on. Erase the "don't let history repeat itself" mentality because sometimes it's not what's being implemented, but how we respond. Bear this in mind: This country is ours to keep and ours to grow.
